How Many Pictures Can You Take?
The number of pictures you can take on a memory card varies based on your camera model and the complexity of the photos being shot. To calculate the photo capacity of your card, divide the memory size of your card by the average file size of your photos in the mode you most often shoot. For example, if you have a 512MB card, and use a camera that has an average file size at full quality of 2MB, then 512 divided by 2 gives you approximately 256 pictures. If you switch to a lower or higher quality setting, the number of photos that fit on your card will fluctuate accordingly.
Approximate Number of Images per Card

The print quality of your photos depends on the number of megapixels your camera has. The larger the number of pixels your camera has, the better the resolution (or sharpness) of your images---and the larger your prints can be without suffering quality loss.
Approximate Print Sizes at 300 and 200 ppi.
